‘An Evening To Remember’ Friday 24th February

Friday night’s event run by Hearts Aflame Productions in Tyalgum was a resounding success! Guests began their evening with a scrumptious dinner at Tyalgum’s famed Flutterbies Café and were then wowed by a stunning two hour show performed by the Tweed’s famous Operatic stars Liza Beamish and Lachlan Baker, with many special featured dance performances by International Ballroom dancers Rhett Salmon and Emma Lee. It was a fitting farewell for Emma as less than 24 hours later she travelled to Hong Kong to begin a 6 month contract performing with Disneyland Hong Kong.

The audience were thrilled and excited by the program of the night, which included famous Operatic arias like ‘Nessun Dorma’ and ‘The Drinking Song’ from La Traviata, through to the Michael Buble hit ‘Sway’ which featured a fabulous cha-cha routine performed by Rhett and Emma.   The show also featured the hit song ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Miserables – a song for which Lachlan Baker is known for from his starring role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables at the Gold Coast Arts Centre.   Liza Beamish’s tribute to Whitney Huston with the operatic version sung in Italian of ‘I Will Always Love You’ was an absolute show-stopper and the whole evening culminated in a spectacular 15 minute medley of songs from ‘The Phantom of The Opera’, which transported everyone who was there to feel as if they were sitting in any of the world’s greatest entertainment centres.

The night, which was presented as a fundraiser for the Huckleberry Finn Circle of Home Schooling, proved to be another great addition to the Tweed’s growing Arts and Culture.
